Stefanie Fehling - Moertel Pixel Art

About us

Behind the pseudonym 'Moertel' is Hamburg's pixel artist Stefanie Fehling. Grown up during the 80s and 90s, she blends the nostalgia of 8-bit video games with our present-day life into dark, detailed neo-noir animations. Lonely streets, bridges, and city lights are the recurring elements in her art, exploring the interplay of light and shadow, nature, and industry.

As a director, Stefanie has animated music videos for Alt-J ("Get Better" in 2021) and Turin Brakes ("Isolation" in 2022), adorned thousands of mobile phones with lively pixel art backgrounds through "Retro Mode," and in 2023 finally traded her beloved IT career for the freedom of being an independent artist. Currently, she is working on plenty of new artworks and is excited to show you some sneak peeks at the convention. Of course, Stefanie will bring her famous lenticular prints (and rumors say there's an exclusive Leipzig artwork).
